Tolerance and Understanding

I am going to blow off some steam here. Unfortunately when I do that, it usually causes somebody to comment. Now I don't mind that, people should have open discussions and be able to express themselves. However, humans are filled with emotions and no matter how "logical" people think they are, their emotions still rule their opinions and actions. With that being said, here is my steam that needs to be released!

Like many people, I have a FaceBook page and like many people, I often share my opinion, feelings or thoughts on it as well as comment on my friends pages. It is a social network after all. The interesting part of this evolution in socialization is that is still has the same amount of intolerance that face to face socializing does. It amazes me how I can put a post on my FaceBook page that shares my opinion or just even a mild observation on a TV show I am watching and viola! I have somehow started a heated discussion about religion and in the end, offended someone. It's even more amazing that the person the claims I offended them with my original statement is the same person who call another person who joined the conversation a dimwit, said their reading skills had deteriorated and then decided that I and all other Christians were mis-lead, had stilled our minds and were blinded all because we didn't agree with his opinion.

I however don't feel like I ever attacked him personally, was understanding and respectful of his opinion and tried to present him with some proof of my opinion when he requested it. But alas, my examples of real life events that were not explainable by his facts and raw data were not enough, of course, and that is when he turned ugly.

In the end, I told this person that I rightfully able to express my opinion on MY FaceBook page and he is more then able to pass up comments of mine and use his "logical" brain to control his desire to attack somebody elses viewpoint or at the very least, express his viewpoint without being demeaning about it.

Maybe I am asking too much, tolerance and understanding on a social network!

Fun and Friends...Nothing Better!

The girls and I had a wonderful time with some friends today. We went to Seabridge in Oxard and spent almost 3 hours there! Guess we were having such a good time we didn't even notice how long we were there, except that Sarah started get a little tired! We walked, played, talked, exercised, snacked and drank great coffee from Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf....mmmmmm.

We love it at Seabridge. It is so calming near the water and the kids like the play area. We also enjoy walking around the whole area and waving at the people on the boats as they go by.

Awwwww, what a life.

I Figured Out Why I Gained A Little Weight!

I found a wonderful opportunity to apply for an internship to learn about blogging, writing, etc. In the application you had to show them your "writing style" in a 200 word introduction of yourself (much harder then it sounds.....even for a talker like me!) In my introduction, I mentioned I like to cook.

Now many of you know that I am allergic to wheat, mushrooms, peanuts and potatoes and that Katelynn is allergic to corn including corn syrup. What you might not know is corn is the hardest thing to remove from a diet, especially for a 7 1/2 year old, and wheat is the second hardest thing to remove from a diet. (Milk is the third hardest ingredient to remove.)

Because of this, I cook and bake from scratch, really from scratch. I even make most of our sauces from scratch. Well let me tell you something about baking, cooking and even creating recipes from scratch......You CAN'T Do That WITHOUT Tasting your recipes now can you!

Now I know what you all are thinking, "Come on Rebecca, that can't pack on the pounds you have over the past couple of years." Well maybe that is true, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it! HA!

I refuse to accept that it's those yummy, evil doing Ice Blended Mocha's that you all know I LOOOOOVVVVE so much, no matter what my doctor says. I don't know what she is worried about anyway, I gave up the whipped topping, now my doc says I need to ask for non-fat! Ummmmm, like what is the point in having an Ice Blended if there is no whip AND no fat?

So I guess I am going to have to give up taste testing my recipes before I serve them to my family and friends. Hmmmmmm, bet you all don't want to eat at our house anymore, huh?!?!?!?!?!?!

Struggling With My Weight

Well it's been a very, very long time since I have blogged about anything. Lots of life things getting in the way like kids getting sick, vacation, taking on another part-time job (I honestly don't know why I said yes to them!?!?!?!?!?), PTA and just all around family fun stuff.

And honestly, have not had anything to blog about that I took time to write down, now I do.

I am facing a challenge I have never had before in my life and to be quite honest, I am perplexed at how to go about tackling the challenge. You see, for the first time ever in my life, I actually have a weight problem! Ugh! just typing is tuff, but it's my first step to being serious about my slight but pudgy over-weight issue.

What adds to the issue is when I mention the the doctor told me to loose weight, everyone I know is shocked and things I look fine. If am not fat and don't need to loose weight. Well I may not be what most people consider over weight, but by medical standards, including what is best for my cholesterol......I AM!

Also, when you can't fit in more then 2 pairs of jeans and have to actually buy a larger size, there is definitely an issue! DUH!

So here is my plan of attack, per say: I have found my Weight Watchers point book a friend gave me a few years ago and I am going to use it. I just can't remember exactly what my goal points are that she gave me.....but I will figure is out. Next, I made me some pages to slip in my book, an Excel sheet I can easily jot down what I ate and the points, a sheet to jot down the date, my weight and time of day I weighed. I pulled out my Yoga routine I developed to help me stretch my injured (and old) muscles (less stress, hopefully less chocolate!) and an exercise routing that was developed for me.

Next, I plan to keep my morning Mocha Blasts that I make at home but 1 a day is it.......the rest of my chocolate obsession will be replaced with my other love, fruits and veggies.

Now that Spring is here, walking with the family is back on the schedule. We all love it and it gets the girls out and Larry and I a chance to talk, sort of........LOL. Swimming will be pack in the picture too. Sorry to everyone who goes to the PH Base Pool!

My doctor says I only need to lose about 9-10lbs. which sounds like nothing to most but when you are failing miserably at it, and also gaining weight, it's tuff. My actual goal is to loose 30lbs. by my birthday in June.......Wish Me Luck!

If you have any tips, tricks or recipes that worked for you, please let me know. I appreciate any help.
